Our approach
Shaped by players
NUWE is built around one idea: players should have a real say in what the island becomes.
Community
Players set the direction
New content — enemies, quests, territories — and the big questions about how the world works, such as which game systems are switched on or off, will go to a community vote.
Votes will be open to players with real time in the game, not throwaway accounts.
The team
Keeping the game healthy
Balance and the economy are about data, not just opinions — so levelling speed, taxes and balance are tuned by the team. Changes will be announced in advance, tested on a test server and discussed with the community, but the final call is ours.
The same goes for fair play and technical limits: exploits, bugs and security issues are fixed immediately. And when we can't deliver what the community voted for, we'll say exactly why.
Canon
Faithful where it counts
Our baseline is the original game: damage and balance formulas are recreated as closely as we can. On top of that baseline, the world can evolve together with its community.
Honesty
Honest about the limits
NUWE is not — and does not try to be — a 100% copy of the original. The official server code was never public, so exact formulas can't simply be carried over.
We rebuild them from what the game itself shows and what the community has documented over the years, backed by our own experience building large-scale MMO server systems. The goal isn't a perfect copy; it's a high-quality world worth playing.
